Martyn WareGB

Founding member of Human League, Heaven 17 and BEF

Born in 1956 in Sheffield, Martyn Ware formed the Human League in 1978 before establishing the multimillion-selling act Heaven 17 and British Electric Foundation in 1980. Throughout his 48-year career, he has contributed as both record producer and artist to recordings that have achieved over 50 million sales worldwide. Heaven 17 and BEF remain active, continuing to record, tour and thrive. He founded Illustrious Co. Ltd. with Vince Clarke in 2000 to exploit the creative and commercial possibilities of their unique 3DAudioScape immersive sound technology in collaboration with fine artists, the performing arts and corporate clients around the world. He also lectures extensively and curates, produces and presents a wide range of world-class arts events. He hosts a successful podcast, Electronically Yours, and is a published author.

Ware is also a Visiting Professor at Queen Mary College, University of London, a member of BAFTA, an Honorary DSc at University of London, DMus at University of Sheffield and is a fellow of the international charity In Place Of War.

He is proud to be a socialist and humanitarian activist, helping to fight for the rights of creators and under-represented people worldwide.
