Taavi Kerikmäe is the Head of the Estonian Contemporary Music Centre, a musician, curator, and lecturer. He studied at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Lyon National Conservatory of Music and Dance. His musical practice spans contemporary, electronic, experimental, and early music.
A founding member of the contemporary music ensemble U: and the Estonian Electronic Music Society's ensemble EMA, Kerikmäe has also composed for numerous dance, drama, and film productions. He has collaborated with world-renowned composers including Pierre Boulez, Kaija Saariaho, and Tristan Murail, and has performed across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
Kerikmäe is a senior lecturer in contemporary music at the Estonian Academy of Music and heads the CoPeCo master’s programme. He also co-curates the Improtest concert series. His contributions have been recognised with multiple Annual Awards from the Estonian Cultural Endowment, the Cultural Prize of the Republic of Estonia (2022), and the title of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French Republic (2016).
