Magne Furuholmen is active across multiple cultural fields as both musician and visual artist.
As founding member and keyboardist of a-ha, Furuholmen co-wrote several of the band's hits, including their breakthrough single "Take On Me". Aged just fifteen, he composed the iconic synth riff for what would become a Billboard number one and the fifth most-streamed song of the twentieth century. His songwriting credits also include "Stay on These Roads", "Manhattan Skyline", "Cry Wolf", and "Minor Earth Major Sky".
Alongside music, Furuholmen has maintained a professional visual arts practice since 1989. He has exhibited at major institutions including the Royal Academy London and Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin, with works represented in collections including the British Museum and Bibliothèque Nationale de France. Notable works include 'Imprints' at Fornebu outside Oslo, Scandinavia's largest outdoor ceramic sculpture installation, and woodcut prints inspired by Henri Matisse, exhibited at the National Arts Club in New York in 2025.
