John Reed is a funk aficionado. Whether as a booker, promoter, DJ, radio presenter, label operator, producer, studio musician or simply a record collector, he lives out his passion for organic grooves in almost all its facets. With the founding of IG Funk & Soul, he brought international bands to Leipzig for concerts and networked the Leipzig scene. As a radio presenter, he curates the weekly programme "Letters From Leipzig" on Soho Radio London together with Kosmoz, Dyze and Front2blaq. Since 2020 he has been running Golden Rules as a platform and digital archive for soul treasures and compiles the annual sampler The Originals, which is regarded as a spotlight of the current scene and brings together the hottest of the current funk & soul scene from newcomers to the top. He releases sharp funk 45s into the world of groove on the Detroit label Funk Night Records. He also produces various projects with international artists, works as a studio musician on top-class records and fills his record shelves with new music.
