Founder and Artistic Director of Zonzo Compagnie

Wouter Van Looy is a stage director, curator, and artistic director. He is the founder of Zonzo Compagnie, an organisation dedicated to innovative music projects for young audiences, which has produced award-winning works such as Listen to the Silence, Slumberland, and 3ACH. Van Looy also founded the BIG BANG Festival, an adventurous music circuit operating across 20 cities in Europe, Canada, and Brazil, and recipient of the EFFE Award for Europe’s most innovative festival. In 2024, Wouter was appointed General and Artistic Director of Musica Impulse Centre, an organisation inspiring conscious engagement with sound. As a director of opera and music theatre, he has premiered works at the State Opera Berlin, Opéra de Lille, Opera Ballet Flanders, and the Holland Festival, among others.

For over 20 years, he served as co-artistic director at Muziektheater Transparant, where he remains a resident director and curator. His accolades include multiple YAMA Awards, the Klara Prize, and the APCA Award in 2025.
