Born in Germany, Susanne Hollmann studied in Gießen and Montpellier, and has spent most of her working life in Brussels. She holds an academic degree in economics and Romance languages. She started her professional career in 1994 with the International Organisation for Migration, before working for the European Social Insurance Partners. In 2001, she joined the European Commission. Initially, she coordinated international trade relations; in 2004 she joined the Directorate-General for Education and Culture, where she could combine her professional and personal interests. Today, as the Deputy Head of the Cultural Policy Unit, she leads the work on Music Moves Europe.
