Heiko Leesment heads the vitally important 112 service in Estonia. With the emergency number 112 answering a million emergency calls in a year, the Emergency Response Centre is rather well aware of what really troubles Estonian people. Years ago as a communication specialist for the police, Heiko helped organise safety communication for Weekend, the biggest electronic music festival held in Estonia thus far, bridging the gaps between the police, public expectations and the interests of the organisers. In addition to his work, Heiko is also closely linked to the music industry through his band Sibyl Vane. He is also active on the academic front: with a research interest in the role and functioning of the state, he defended his master’s degree (focussing on the topic of nudging) in political science at Tallinn University in the spring of 2021.
